Who is Chef Gennaro?

Gennaro, the culinary world’s best kept secret (self-proclaimed of course!), began developing and perfecting his culinary talent at an early age.  At just twelve years old, Gennaro began working for his uncle at Tony's Pizza in Marblehead, tossing pizza and mopping floors. Working alongside his uncle taught Gennaro the value of hardwork, dedication and ownership. 

Gennaro began working for Dining Services at Boston College in 1998, with the intention of using this opportunity to complete his business degree and embark on a career in the business world as an investment banker. Instead, he developed a passion for food, leading him down a different path. He decided to pursue a culinary degree from Newbury College. Even though he did complete the business degree at Boston College, he knew the culinary world would become his vocation. 

He ultimately landed the role of cooking for a group of distinguished Jesuit professors and global dignitaries that teach and reside at Boston College.  Gennaro welcomed the freedom to flex his culinary muscle, and planned creative daily menus that consistently left the guests’ mouths watering and curious about what his next delicious, gourmet meal would be.  The professors frequently offered Gennaro praise and accolades, helping to inflate his ego.  

When moving on from Boston College, Gennaro sought opportunities to bring a creative edge to his kitchen.  With Rita’s Catering, he ran a corporate cafe where he was charged with keeping the menu fresh to ensure the satisfaction of the client and increase revenue at the cafe. 

Often asked where he had his best meal, Gennaro replies with an atypical answer. Because he desires to create memorable experiences for others, his best meals are not the ones he has consumed,  but instead, are ones he has created that leave a lasting impression on his guests. Gennaro frequently says, “It’s all about making other people happy.”

Still thirsting for more, having a strong desire to do his own thing, and fulfilling his need to introduce his ideas and food to the suburban masses, Chef Gennaro began a pop-up adventure - keeping each new event unique and interesting.  He hopes to leave you craving more with each bite!
